new toys!

so, i got another gift from my secret pal today, what a LOVELY surprise! very... VERY coincidental though.

i went to the body shop last week with my mom, and i was fondling all the body butters. ohhh i love them. i had gotten the olive one as a gift in april, and my mom bought me the papaya as a gift. i was also playing with all of the mini-massage toys up at the register... sooo cute.

so, i open my envelope today, and the first thing that falls out is... two mini-massage toys! the cute little nubbly ones that fit on your fingers. aww. after that, i see a mini soy body butter. ohhhh yeah, way to make ME smile :) someone's been reading my thoughts.

last, but not least, is the best most beautiful skein of tibet recycled silk yarn. it's... soft, and shiny, and green and pink and purple. yeah, i LOVE it. only thing is, i cant figure out what sort of pattern would do justice to such a cute little thing! hmm... any ideas?

ok, boyfriend whining. me typing too much :) off for italian ices and movies!!

bad, bad blogger

you know, i've been reading a lot of other blogs lately, and everyone seems to have knitting-blog friends! i need to get me some of them! but then i realized... i'm a bad, bad blogger. how am i gonna make friends with such infrequent and un-picture-saturated post? so things are about to change here in alice-world ;)

actually, i lied. you'll have to make do ONE more post without pictures, because my brother has my camera for a day or two. but believe me, i have some GREAT stuff to show you. i really ought to update the links on my sidebar, but i'm terrified of how long my WIP list ACTUALLY is.

i've put a lot of the warmer projects on hold for now, such as the st brigid and rogue. well, rogue mostly because my cat ate a sleeve, and... i just havent had the heart to go back to it yet.

however, while i've put down a few projects... i've cast on a million others. currently on needles;
a lacey shawl for my jennie
honeymoon from knitty
the cris-cross-y tank on the cover of VK
a summer sweater of my own design
an infinite number of headbands for my in-between hair (i'm growing out a VERY short cut)

i've also picked up a few old projects too, like an eyelet-rich skirt from the fall VK.

so, with that teaser in place, look for progress pics soon :)

more secret pal news!

i got another package from my secret pal :) evidently they read my blog here, as i got three skeins of noro kureyon no. 74 (its all pinks, purples, blues and greens. how perfect!!) and four of the cutest stitch markers i've ever seen (and the first ones i have ever, personally, owned), two small and two larger. stitch markers by cheryl. my own surprise to MY secret pal just hit the mail today... hope she gets it soon! hehe.
(no pictures today, as my camera's still recovering from the road trip of this past weekend.)

now, contest time!!

now that i HAVE these three beautiful skeins of kureyon to work with, i dont know what to do with them! i dont need another booga bag, and i'm certainly not making a gift for anyone else out of my secret-pal yarn :) so...

what is the coolest, most original (and still functional) thing i could do with these three skeins?

i will choose the winner based on what i actually DO with the yarn, whoevers suggestion i choose will be the a-number-one grand prize winner. (a prize that is yet to be determined, but i'll figure it out soon, i promise.) deadline: may 18th. two weeks from today, if i'm correct.

i also reserve the right to choose runners-up, if there are any ideas that i definatly DO want to use at some point, but just not yet. there may be up to 3 of these.

entries may be submitted to me via email, at brokedown_tiger at yahoo.com
if your idea involves using a specific pattern, a link to the pattern or even the pattern in the body of the email would be greatly appreciated. and keep in mind, i consider myself an upper-moderate knitter, i can do pretty much anything but entrelac (but willing to learn) and fair isle (GROAN... some day...), so, the possibilities are almost endless!

may the best thinker win!
